Velocity was appointed by W Series to design and deliver a range of innovative hospitality and operational structures throughout the championship’s seasons, adapting to the varied demands of European touring and international fly-away races. For the initial races alongside the DTM series, Velocity created a Race HQ structure made from 20 shipping containers. This multipurpose facility supported teams, drivers, media, and VIP guests, providing essential spaces such as offices, race control, catering areas, and entertainment zones. When W Series transitioned to Formula 1, the logistical requirements intensified due to the fast-paced back-to-back races across multiple continents. To meet these demands, Velocity implemented a more modular and expandable structure that maintained the high standard of hospitality and race operations while improving the flexibility of setup and teardown. Velocity oversaw every aspect of this project, from production and permissions to build, live operations, and derig.
In the USA, for W Series races in Austin and Miami, Velocity delivered temporary structures tailored to the unique needs of fly-away events. These setups facilitated team and guest hospitality, driver changing spaces, race operations, and team offices. The design incorporated elevated viewing platforms, product and brand integration, as well as outdoor entertainment features like LED screens and DJ areas. Velocity’s ability to capture an authentic local aesthetic helped create an immersive race-day experience for guests and staff alike.
Additionally, Velocity enhanced W Series’ fan engagement with their work on the British Grand Prix fan festival. Located in the heart of the fan zone, Velocity designed an interactive experience that included stage content, photo opportunities, and branding, all while educating fans on the championship and its drivers. They also developed an interactive app to boost fan interaction, with the potential to roll out these features at future events. Through these multifaceted contributions, Velocity helped elevate W Series’ profile and deliver exceptional race experiences across Europe and the USA.
Since 2021, The Velocity team have been designing, building and producing all of the official hospitality spaces at the British Grand Prix for Match Hospitality, and before this for Silverstone Circuit directly.
